Refurbished Radar Detectors
Radar detectors are sometimes returned to the retail store. Whether used or unused, the store will take them back if it's still within their return policy time. Then the original company will take them back and refurbish them. These refurbished radar detectors offer the benefits of new ones without the high price. They are a real bargain. There are many reasons for the return of these machines. The ones that come back to the manufacturer may come back because of surface blemishes like scratches or dents, or because they were damaged during shipping or while being packaged for shipping, or because customers just didn't want them.
They often come in during the return policy period and under warranty. Their flaws are corrected and they are repackaged as refurbished radar detectors. Before it’s sent out, the manufacturer makes every effort to correct any problems.
A good manufacturer wants to stand behind its product. It will inspect, clean up, repair, and check for performance. The radar detector may be put together again and electronically tested, then sold from the company itself or sent to a retailer.
This is so common an occurrence that both manufacturers and retailers nowadays have sections for refurbished items like this. If you look in the refurbished sections, you'll find quality radar detectors at half or less their original price. Something that costs $300 new can cost $150 or less refurbished.
You can spend $150 for a new one but not get all the features of the expensive one. Buying refurbished, you'll have all the features of a high priced model for a fraction of the cost. Although sold at retail and online stores, it's best to go right to the company if you can or to its authorized dealer to buy one of these refurbished radar detectors.
Check to make sure there's a warranty that extends to refurbished machines well past the date you purchase it. Mistakes can always happen and you want to ensure that you can return it if any have been made in the refurbishing process.
